Glencoe Elopement Guide
Glencoe is one of the most jaw dropping stunning places in Scotland, and with it only being a couple of hours from Glasgow and Edinburgh you can understand why we jump at any chance to go there.

Why Elope?
Thats an easy questions to answer, because why wouldn't you want to elope in glencoe, its gorgeous! It's such a unreal feeling when you're there, it honestly doesn't feel real, like you're in a movie. The views are just out of this world.
If you and your partner are not feeling the traditional big wedding and you'd rather it be small or just you both then we'd 100% recommend eloping and if you do want your wedding photos to be big a dramatic then definitely declare your love for one and other in Glencoe.
This is actually where Larraine & I got married, so as you can understand we are very passionate about helping our couples with as much information as possible.
The Legal Advice
Amazingly, in Scotland you can get married anywhere that you wish. Though you will need a registered humanist to help out with this.
When choosing your humanist or celebrant we would recommend taking your time with this as you want the person marrying you's personality to bounce of your own. The Humanist Association of Scotland is a fab place to search and find your fully approved humanist/celebrant.
Once you and your love have decided on a place you'd like to tie the knot you will need to inform and give notice to the district registrar for the area where you intend to marry. For the majority of Glencoe, this is Fort William.
Please note that you do have a timeframe of handing this notice in to the registrar. Meaning that you will need to hand your notice in no earlier than 3 months and no later than 29 days before the date of your marriage.We'd recommend making a day of it, going on a walk or seeing if there is any other places you'd like to stop by and take photos on your elopement day. If you're feeling peckish you should 100% check out Real Food Cafe its near the green welly and they do a cracking halloumi supper!

This is an up hill walk but it takes about 2 minute from the carpark.
Beautiful still loch water and forrest vibes.

What should I wear on my feet?
Comfort is key when you're in Glencoe as there is a lot of hills. If you're looking to get those big stunning dramatic photos with views in the background then either wear some form of boot or bring them with you to change into.
Accommodation
You are able to find a whole load of amazing wee cottages on air b&b and booking.com.
One thing we would recommend that you look out for when booking accommodation is how much light the place has. We work with a lot of natural light so the more windows the better.
Props
If like us you wanted to add a little something extra to your elopement and not sure what. We brought our Paisley print rug with us that we stood on to get married.
Alternatively you could make or hire a backdrop. You get some stunning backdrops from the team at Gloam and you are also able to hire rugs from them too.
